Thermal conductivity and enhanced thermoelectric performance of SnTe bilayer

چکیده

Tin chalcogenides (SnS, SnSe, and SnTe) are found to have improved thermoelectric properties upon the reduction of their dimensionality. Here we tilted AA + s stacked two-dimensional (2D) SnTe bilayer as most stable phase among several stackings predicted by structural optimization phonon transport properties. The carrier mobility relaxation time evaluated using deformation potential theory, which is be relatively high due 2D elastic modulus, low constant, moderate effective masses. shows a Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity, ultralow lattice thermal conductivity. High TE figure merit (ZT) values, 4.61 along zigzag direction, for bilayer. These ZT values much enhanced compared bulk well monolayer other compounds.

Enhanced thermoelectric performance of Nb-doped SrTiO3 by nano-inclusion with low thermal conductivity

Authors reported an effective path to increase the electrical conductivity while to decrease the thermal conductivity, and thus to enhance the ZT value by nano-inclusions. By this method, the ZT value of Nb-doped SrTiO3 was enhanced 9-fold by yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) nano-inclusions. YSZ inclusions, located inside grain and in triple junction, can reduce the thermal conductivity by effe...

High thermoelectric performance by resonant dopant indium in nanostructured SnTe.

From an environmental perspective, lead-free SnTe would be preferable for solid-state waste heat recovery if its thermoelectric figure-of-merit could be brought close to that of the lead-containing chalcogenides. In this work, we studied the thermoelectric properties of nanostructured SnTe with different dopants, and found indium-doped SnTe showed extraordinarily large Seebeck coefficients that...

Effective thermal conductivity in thermoelectric materials

Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are solid state heat engines that generate electricity from a temperature gradient. Optimizing these devices for maximum power production can be difficult due to the many heat transport mechanisms occurring simultaneously within the TEG. In this paper, we develop a model for heat transport in thermoelectric materials in which an " effective thermal conductivity ...
